This story is another of those "what if" stories. It takes place in the future, probably when Anilla is in her early twenties and she is no longer with the Panthers, but instead she lives in a hut in a forest that's near an unnamed town. Of course, none of this is guaranteed to happen. You know the drill.
Anilla opened her eyes. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and she was glad because she had to make a trip to the market today. She climbed out of bed, stretched, and dressed quickly. It wasn't long before she left her little hut in the middle of the forest and made her way towards town.
When she arrived at the market, she immediately walked to the bread stand. She examined the loaves carefully, trying to decide which one looked the freshest. Suddenly, she had the feeling that someone was watching her. She turned her head and saw that a human man, just a few years older than herself, was watching her carefully. She met his eyes and he smiled. The way the man smiled made Anilla nervous. It was not a friendly smile; it was a mischievous one.
Anilla turned back to the bread and tried to ignore the man, but she could still feel his eyes on her. When she moved to a different stand, she can feel him following her. She was studying the apples when she felt fingertips touching her waist ever so lightly. She instinctively pulled away, and as she did so, the man grabbed onto her wrist. At almost the exact same moment, another hand grabbed the man's hand, which caused him to let go.
"Hey there, don't go touching my sister!" Anilla looked at the man, another human, who had interfered. He was tall, about the same age as the first man, and he had light brown hair that came down to his chin. He skin was tanner than Anilla's, and his eyes were dark brown. Not to mention, he was definitely human and she definitely had elvish blood in her. In fact, he looked nothing like Anilla, so she didn't see how the first man would believe that she was this new man's sister.
The man who had grabbed Anilla looked frightened, as he was quite a bit shorter than this new man. He looked at the ground. "Sorry." Then he turned and walked away quickly.
Anilla's heart was pounding. She didn't realize how frightened she was until now. She looked at the man who had saved her.
"Thank you, sir." She nodded to him and walked away quickly. She decided that today was not the day to go shopping.
As Anilla walked towards the outskirts of the town, she felt like she was being followed again. She turned and looked behind her, and to both her surprise and horror she saw the man that had saved her. He was following her.
Anilla stopped in her tracks. She couldn't go home; this man would follow her and then he would know where she lives, which would be horrible. She decided that the best method would be to be around people, so she turned around and faced him. It wasn't as crowded in this part of town as it was in the market, but it was crowded enough.
As the man approached her, Anilla felt herself trembling. She prayed to the Great Mother under her breath.
"Mother, please, don't let him hurt me. I don't want to be hurt again. Please, Mother."
Anilla instinctively rested her hand on the outside of her dress, right where her dagger was hiding. She couldn't pull it out without drawing attention, and she didn't want to draw attention unless absolutely necessary. No matter how scared she was, if people saw her threatening this man when he had no weapon, she would be the one in trouble.
The man was finally within talking distance. He slowed down, and then he stopped a few feet away from Anilla. He was looking at her, and he had concern in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked. "You looked scared to death. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay."
Anilla nodded her head up and down violently. She was biting her lip hard. "I'm fine," she managed to utter.
The man nodded slowly, but didn't look convinced. Anilla avoided looking directly at him, and he noticed this. He sensed that he wasn't wanted, so he said, "Okay. I'll go then. I'm glad you're okay."
He turned and walked away slowly. Anilla let out her breath all at once. Without even thinking about it, she called out, "Wait."
The man stopped and turned around to face her again. Anilla looked about as surprised at what she had said as the man did. The man looked at her, and Anilla looked back. She wasn't sure what to say next; this man had only followed her to make sure that she was okay, and she wasn't sure how to handle that.
Anilla smiled a little. "Thanks."
The man grinned widely and walked a little closer. "It was no problem. I don't like to see ladies hurt like that." He watched her for a moment, and then said, "So what's your name? If you don't mind me asking, that is."
Anilla took a deep breath. "Anilla Liadon." She bowed a little.
He smiled. "That's a beautiful name, you know. Mine is William Hollis. But you can call me Will if you want."
Anilla smiled more, and then looked at the ground. "I'm sorry I was so rude to you. I just—"
Will held up his hand to stop her. "No worries, Anilla. I understand."
They looked at each other for a moment, and then Will said, "Well, do you want to finish your shopping? I can walk with you, if that will make you feel better."
Anilla nodded and walked over to Will. The two of them walked back towards the market. They stood close to each other, but did not touch. As Anilla shopped, the two of them talked about themselves. Anilla made sure not to give away too much, especially the location of her home.
At one point, Will asked, "So, you obviously have some elvish blood in you. Just how much of an elf are you?"
Anilla looked away. She was never ashamed of being part elvish, but right now she wished that he wouldn't bring it up. "Half," she said.
Will nodded, seemingly unconcerned. "You know, this may seem weird to you, but I don't mind you being elvish. I know that most humans don't like your kind, but me, I couldn't care less. There are a lot more similarities between our races than differences."
Anilla looked back at Will, who was examining an orange. She couldn't help but smile. He seemed almost too good to be true, and Anilla hoped that he wouldn't turn out like the rest of them.
As the morning turned to afternoon, Anilla decided to take a chance with this man. After all, there was a reason that she had met him. There was a reason for everything.
"So, Will...how would you like to come to my hut for lunch?"
He looked overjoyed. "I'd love that! Thank you, Anilla."
Anilla nodded. "But, if you don't mind, I'd like to blindfold you once we get near the forest. I just can't take any risks, you know? It's the only home I have, and even though you seem nice, I just can't—"
Again he cut her off. "Don't worry about it. Of course I'll walk there blindfolded."
Anilla smiled and the two of them walked out of the town. When they got to the forest's edge, Anilla wrapped a piece of cloth around Will's eyes spun him around a few times. This was the first time that the two had actually made contact, and Anilla felt her stomach flutter.
Anilla guided Will through the forest to her hut. She held his hand lightly, and she felt both nervous and elated. It wasn't long before they reached her hut, and when they were within sight, she removed the cloth from around his eyes. She almost wanted to keep it on so that she had an excuse to hold his hand, but she knew better than that.
Will smiled at her, and looked at the hut. "It looks very nice."
Anilla smiled back. "Thank you." She led him inside.
She made soup for lunch, and the two talked for a long time. At one point, after they had finished eating, they made their way to the couch, and sat next to each other to talk. Anilla made sure not to get too close.
As the sun got lower in the sky, Will asked the question that Anilla had been dreading for some time. "Anilla, I want to ask you something, but if it makes you uncomfortable to answer me, then don't. Why were you so scared of me right after I scared that man away?"
Anilla looked at the floor. She was uncomfortable, yes, but she still thought about it. She decided to give him somewhat of an answer: "I...I had a bad experience."
Will nodded, but didn't push it. He looked over at her. She was still staring at the floor. She sensed him looking at her, and she met his gaze.
He smiled. "You know, this may be premature, but I think I've fallen in love with you."
Anilla's heartbeat quickened. The butterflies in her stomach increased in strength. She closed her eyes and whispered, "I think I've fallen in love with you too."
Anilla gasped as she felt Will's warm hands grasp her own, and she opened her eyes. Will let go immediately. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
Anilla looked at Will, who was looking at the floor now. She said a prayer to herself, and then she cautiously took one of Will's hands in her own. She squeezed it, and he closed his hand around hers.
Will took her other hand, and they sat staring at each other for a long time. Suddenly, he pulled his hands away and stood up. "I should go. It's late."
Anilla stood up too. "No, don't go. You can stay here the night, if you want."
Will took her hands again and looked into her eyes. "Are you sure, Anilla?"
She nodded her head yes. "I'm sure."
Will slowly moved his arms around Anilla's body. She did not resist, so he held her close to him. She wrapped her own arms around his body, and they stood there, holding each other, for a long time.
When Anilla looked up at him again, he leaned down and softly placed his lips on hers. She did not pull away, and in fact she moved closer. Her lips parted, as did his, and they kissed each other ever so softly. He gently moved his tongue between her lips, and she happily accepted it. They kissed for a long time. It was Anilla's first kiss, and she felt like she was going to die of happiness.
As the pulled their lips away from each other, they looked into each other's eyes. Will said, "Now I'm sure that I love you."
Anilla blushed and smiled. She looked away, but then she looked back at Will and said, "I love you too."
They stood there staring at each other for some time. Finally, Anilla led Will by the hand to her bed, which was in the corner of the room. She sat down, and Will sat down next to her. Anilla could feel her heart pounding.
Will turned to look at her. She was staring at the floor, and he could feel her palm sweating as she squeezed his hand tightly. They sat like this for a long time, until Will suddenly stood up from the bed, moved in front of Anilla, and knelt down in front of her. He lifted her chin up with his hand and looked into her eyes. He could see the fear in them.
"Anilla...please, don't do anything you will regret doing. I don't want to scare you. Perhaps it's best if I leave...I can come back tomorrow if you want me to."
Anilla could feel her eyes getting hot, and it wasn't long before her vision blurred. She blinked and the tears fell down her cheeks and onto Will's hand. He stood up and sat next to her again, and held her close to him. She rested her head against his shoulder and cried into him.
When she had calmed down a little, she lifted her face and looked into his eyes. She saw only love and concern in them, and at that moment she knew that she had to overcome her fears if she ever wanted to keep him.
She swallowed hard. "Will...I'm sorry. I should tell you about my experience...it's the only way you'll understand why I'm like this."
And she did. She told him everything about that night when she was raped, and she told him about how she killed her attacker. She talked about her feelings back then, and how she tried to forget about it for the longest time. She then told him at her mission with the Panthers, and she told him about Byorne and how she had tried to overcome her fears by sleeping with him. She told him that she had thought she was in love with him then, but after the mission was over she knew it wasn't so. She told him that he was the first man she had ever really loved, and she didn't want to lose him now.
Will remained silent but attentive as Anilla told him her life story. When she had finished, he held her for a long time. She looked up at him, and she kissed him. They kissed for a long time, and as they did so, Anilla brought her legs up onto the bed. Will did the same, and then Anilla slowly slipped her hands under the back of Will's shirt and ran her fingers along his skin. She silently thanked the Mother for letting her find this wonderful man.
Taking her actions as a hint, Will slowly and gently began to lay Anilla back on the bed. She did not resist, so he gently laid her down so that she was on her back and her head was resting on her pillow. He broke off the kiss and sat there looking down at her. He watched as her chest moved up and down in time to her deep breathing. She was looking at him, and he could tell that she was waiting for him to do something. He wasn't sure what to do.
Finally, he lied down next to her and whispered in her ear. "Anilla, you're beautiful. I love you, and if you're willing, I want to show you how things work when a man and a woman really love each other. I don't want to force anything on you, so I want you to be sure. I know you're nervous, and maybe even scared, but please trust me. Love makes everything different."
Anilla turned her head to look at him. His eyes told her that he was sincere. She smiled at him, and she nodded. "I love you too, Will. I'm sure. I want to feel what it's like to truly love somebody."
Will smiled and quickly removed his clothes. When he was totally naked, he sat there next to Anilla, and let her look at him for some time. She looked over his body, and although she was nervous, she wasn't scared. She touched his thigh and then rubbed it gently. He smiled at her.
While she was touching him, he removed her belt and untied the back of her dress. She turned on her side so that he could pull her dress off, and he did. She smiled at him and then removed her hand from his leg so that she could remove her own underwear. She was now totally naked as well, and her long, black hair rested softly on her breasts. She watched him watch her, and she liked it.
Will ran his hand through her soft hair, all the way down to her right breast. He softly massaged it, and he used his thumb to rub her nipple. He could hear her breathing, and he laid himself down next to her so that he could kiss her lips.
As they kissed, Will continued to rub her breast and used his other hand to massage her stomach. He moved his hand down to her thigh, and then back up. He did this a few more times, and eventually Anilla opened her legs a little for him. He slowly brought his hand down to her crotch, and he used his fingers to rub her there. She gasped into his mouth, and as she broke the kiss he moved his mouth to her neck. He sucked on it gently as he played between her legs, and soon she was moving her body against him.
He gently pressed his finger inside of her just a little. She tensed up, and he held his finger in place until she got used to it. Once he felt her body relax, he pushed further inside. She was tight, but not overly so. He did not have any problems pushing his finger deeper, and she did not stop him. He pulled his finger back out and licked it clean. Anilla was breathing hard and she ran her fingers along his chest.
Will turned Anilla onto her back, and then he climbed on top of her. He kissed her, and as they kissed she wrapped her legs around his body. They continued to kiss as he pressed himself inside of her, and he felt her body move to accept him. They kissed the entire time that they made love. They moved slowly for a long time, just loving each other. Eventually they quickened the pace, and Anilla's moaning and then her climax brought Will over the top. They continued to move, slowing down, until they both just stopped. They broke their kiss so that they could breathe, and after they had caught their breath Will rolled off of her. He held her body close to his, and he whispered to her.
"I love you, Anilla."
Anilla felt her eyes close as she drifted off. She managed to utter, "I love you too, Will. Thank you for showing me love."
